Rayana Jay – Love Me Like

Highlighting her velvety smooth vocals and airy harmonies, Rayana Jay’s music carries a confessional, old-soul storytelling nature rooted in honesty on each record of her new EP ‘Love Me Like’, out now via EMPIRE. The soulful singer-songwriter’s new project showcases her unique poetic lyrics and unforgettable vocals, all composed into a how-to guide for loving Rayana Jay.

“I wrote each song as if I was telling someone, “if you’re going to love me, love me like…this.” It’s not all peaches and sunshine, tracks like ‘If You Won’t’ and ‘Do Betta’ are testaments to that,” describes Rayana.

Rayana divulges that her new project may be her most vulnerably honest record to date, undoubtedly serving the artist as a therapeutic outlet. Last summer, she began working on new music in her Bed-Stuy studio and found herself writing letters to her younger self, letters of advice and enlightened perspective on life. ‘Love Me Like’ compiles Rayana’s highs and lows through a journey of soul-searching and self-reflection, into one comprehensive personal diary in which Rayana Jay expresses herself not only as an artist, but more importantly, as a woman in the music industry.

“It’s not bad to know how you want to be loved. I hope it inspires people to get the love they deserve,” Rayana explains what she wants fans to take away from the project.

In the Fall of 2016, Rayana released her debut EP Sorry About Last Night—helmed by The Fader as one of the most relatable albums of the year. Her follow-up EP, Morning After was pinned as one of the top EP’s of 2017 by BBC1. The singers’ original single and video “Undefeated” was also hand selected by Lebron James to be included in his “The Strongest” playlist.
