Hip-hop artist Miranda Writes’ latest track “Be About It” inspired by her love of snowboarding

New York City-based hip-hop artist Miranda Writes has officially released her all-new track “Be About It”. The song has been released to help raise money for The Chill Foundation (Chill) – a non-profit organization that aims to inspire youth to overcome challenges through boardsports. Writes is the New York City ambassador for Chill. She is also an avid snowboarder and hopes her song can help the foundation continue its inspirational work.

According to Writes, “Be About It” is the ultimate snowboarding song. She combined various words and phrases unique to the snowboarding world with hip-hop beats to craft the track. There is also a rock-infused vibe to “Be About It”, which continues Writes’ reputation for writing eclectic songs.

“I wanted to make “Be About It” the perfect track to ride to,” Writes said. “I played around with snowboarding lingo during the writing process and fellow shredders will definitely be familiar with words and phrases in the song.”

As a mentor and ambassador, Writes has seen the positive effects snowboarding has had on kids. She hopes the song and music video featuring the youth will not only raise money directly for the non-profit but increase the public’s awareness of the foundation.

“I really love “Be About It”,” Writes explained. “It’s fun, exhilarating, and free, and it really matches the vibe of The Chill Foundation.”

“We are grateful for Miranda’s support of The Chill Foundation,” said Jeff Morton, Vice President of Marketing at Development at The Chill Foundation. “Miranda’s involvement with Chill has been inspiring and her inclusion of Chill youth in “Be About It” created a new and exciting opportunity for our participants to combine their interest in snowboarding and music.”

The Chill Foundation was created by Burton Snowboards founders Jake and Donna Carpenter in 1995. It has served more than 25,000 young people since it began. Every year, the Chill Foundation works with approximately 1,900 young individuals. The non-profit organization works with social service agencies, mental health agencies, foster care programs, juvenile justice programs, and schools in local communities.

All snowboarding equipment and other items needed are provided to the participants at no cost. Through snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and paddleboarding, The Chill Foundation focuses on the resiliency of participants to help them reach their full potential and see that there is a path out of their current circumstances.

Writes is the first female emcee to crossover into the snowboarding market. Although the action sport and hip-hop don’t seem to go together, Writes is proving they do through both her music and her involvement with Chill.

“It’s amazing to see how much fun the youth have at Chill’s programs all while learning new skills, making new friends, and finding personal growth through Chill’s six core values: patience, courage, persistence, responsibility, respect, and pride,” Writes said. “I’m proud to be an ambassador and mentor with the organization and to help out anyway I can.”
