Shy Girls – Bird on the Wing

Shy Girls’ new album, Bird on the Wing, is out via Keep Cool Projects/RCA Records. The 11-track project is self-produced by Shy Girls and features standout singles like “Lay and Be Lonely” and “Don’t Know When I Will Believe.” At the start of 2019, Shy Girls was announced as the first artist under RCA’s indie project, Keep Cool Projects, and recent singles have earned recognition from Billboard, Complex, Highsnobiety and many more. It’s been over two years since the release of Shy Girls’ critically acclaimed debut album, Salt, and the new project shows that Shy Girls has found a more content and carefree state of being.

Speaking on the project, Shy Girls shared, “this is not so much a departure for me but a return to the essence of my earliest work… groovy and pulsating, even fun at times.”

This spring, Shy Girls will embark on a 20-date tour that kicks off in Seattle on April 18th, making stops in Chicago, Boston, New York and Los Angeles before wrapping up in San Francisco on May 18th. https://www.shygirlsmusic.com/

Shy Girls, the moniker for artist Dan Vidmar, first came to attention in 2013 with his slow-burning, sax-tinged “Under Attack,” garnering an impressive review from Pitchfork.  He followed that up with the release of his buzzed-about Timeshare EP, subsequent 4WZ mixtape and – more recently – the progressive and cinematic opus Salt, which was his full-length debut. In recent months, Shy Girls set the stage for his sophomore album with a string of well-received singles, including visuals for “Hallelujah” and “Headfucked,” both timeless releases that demonstrate how Shy Girls is “making music that’s meant to last and continues to evolve.” (Highsnobiety) A much sought after vocalist and producer, Shy Girls has collaborated with Cyril Hahn, Tei Shi, Rome Fortune, Junglepussy, and ODESZA, and was hand-picked for tours with HAIM, Little Dragon, and Maxwell.
