Get Ready for the Heat With These 6 Summer Beauty Tips From @adaatude!
We’re ready to kick back, relax, and enjoy the longer days of the summer season. But, as the weather changes, so should our beauty and skin routine. It can be difficult knowing where to start when adding and switching over products for a new season. That’s why beauty guru and social media maven, Adaleta Avdić, (known as @adaatude on Instagram) has put together these tips to keep your skin looking healthy and your makeup fresh through the hot summer months ahead!
Layer on the SPF!
I know that at some point of every day I’ll have to head outside, and why burn when I can be totally protected from the sun’s scorching heat? Since I live in Arizona, and people get sunburnt from 5 minutes of outdoor sun (you think I’m kidding but I’m totally serious) I tend to use two products with SPF. Having multiple layers of sun protection is essential, even if you’re spending most of your time indoors.
After applying a hydrating moisturizer (like the Fresh Deep Hydration Rose Face Cream) I like to slather on the sunscreen products.
EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum, with SPF 40, has zinc oxide which helps reflect those sun rays off your face and back into the universe.
Less is More.
Since summer is hot and humid in some cases, I don’t like to load on too much makeup and heavy foundations tend to sweat off quickly. Not to mention they cause weird streaks, which let’s be honest, are not cute.
So I’ve been opting to use the Boscia Skin Perfecting BB Cream Broad Spectrum, with an additional SPF 30, in the shade Venice. This BB cream is hydrating and keeps the skin looking fresh while lasting a really long time.
Say Goodbye to Raccoon Eyes
My favorite mascara for years has been the original Better Than Sex because it really makes your lashes pop. For summertime, you want to ensure you don’t end up with raccoon eyes, so I am loving the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara which is perfect for time by the pool, beach or lake this summer.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Since I love a good facial mist, I tend to combine a few things into one. Currently, I’ve been using two facial sprays. The Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Mist is perfect for a quick hydration boost throughout the day, and I also love to do a spritz of the Kiehl’s Cactus Flower & Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist, which smells absolutely incredible. Since this Kiehl’s version comes in a smaller size (2.5 fl oz.) it’s perfect to carry on the go and for those summer travels. As the day gets hot, I simply reapply the facial mist to cool off my face and freshen up my makeup, or give my face a refresh on the plane because that airplane air tends to suck the moisture right out of our skin.
Once the skin is taken care of, I like to make sure my hands and lips are hydrated.
Show Your Lips Some Love 💋
No one likes dry lips, so I opt for something that’s super hydrating, silky and has a slightly creamy consistency. The Butterstick Lip Treatment from Kiehl’s, with SPF 30, has some color payoff, and a serious boost of hydration to the lips. The La Mer Lip Balm is another amazing alternative, with a luxurious silky feel (so you can kiss confidently, oooh la la!)
Bring Your Skin Back to Life
In terms of hand and body cream, I love to carry a small travel size of the Lush Cosmetics Dream Cream. It’s perfect for the hands and the entire body also helps to keep everything hydrated. It’s not super oily and absorbs into the skin quickly.
You’re all ready for the heat, and your skin won’t turn into a prune. You can thank me later. Enjoy the rays, but stay protected!
