WWE’s Lana has been one of the company’s most recognizable personalities since she and husband Resuv made their debut on the main roster on a January 31, 2014 episode of SmackDown. The couple appeared on Smackdown television in a series of self-promotional videos and speeches. Later that year, Lana began to dedicate Rusev’s matches to her “hero”  President of Russia Vladimir Putin, as a part of the Russian Gimmick she was playing at the time.

Lana would continue to manage her husband for two more years until she made her in-ring debut at the WrestleMania 32 pre-show in 2017. The match featured Naomi, Tamina, and Lana vs. Brie Bella, Emma, and Summer Rae, which ended with Lana’s team losing.

Later that year, she was part of a storyline with Naomi where the duo would square off in several matches with Naomi winning every single match. Including a Smackdown Women’s Champion match at the 2017 Money in the Bank Pay Per View.

During her time in the WWE Lana has been a part of a lot of the groundbreaking matches during the Women’s Evolution era, including the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match in 2018, as the entree number 13. Unfortunately for Lana, she would be eliminated by Michelle McCool. She has also been a part of the Facebook Series WWE Mixed Match Challenge, teaming with her husband Rusev, as they defeated Elias and Bayley in the first round. This match ended with Lana’s first win in the WWE. A couple of months later she would pick up her first singles victory against Billie Kay to qualify for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. However, she would not win the ladder match.

Recently, Lana and Resuv were featured on TNT’s Drop the Mic, as they faced off against Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban.  The couple of Lana and Resuv would come out victorious, but Cuban thought he should have won. When he was asked back in March.

“So they gave me a little bit of material and then I wrote the rest. They gave me a couple of bars and I said this is too mellow and then Rusev spiced up his. So, I said if you want to go like that then I will as well. You can say whatever you want about me, I don’t care, but I’m taking right back at you. So, it was fun,  it was a lot of fun. I think I should have won this is the way it goes,” said Cuban.

We recently spoke to WWE Superstar Lana to get her thoughts on a possible rematch with Cuban. We also asked her what was the best gift that she gave her mother with Mother’s Day being on Sunday.

You recently were featured on Drop the Mic with Rusev against Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban.  Shortly after the episode aired, Cuban said that he should have won. If you were approached again would you be willing to run it back for a rematch?

Of course, we could have a rematch, and we would crush him again.

Naomi shared that if she was featured on MTV’s SafeWord and she would like you to be her opponent. Is that something you would be interested in doing?

I’m not surprised because Naomi and I have a very competitive relationship. We are always competing with one another. “Who has the best dance moves, highest kicks, and better weave, so, we will show up to TV with the same clothes in many different colors. “Obviously, she is in neon green, it’s always really funny. I’m not surprised Naomi picked me, I’ll take the competition. Anything with Naomi is going to be good if we are on the same team or competing against her.

What television shows are you currently watching and what movie besides Star Wars are looking forward to seeing later this year?

I have been watching Legacy on Netflix, and I’m 11- or 12-episodes in. I like that it has to do with the Super Natural. The Avenger Endgame shook me, and I have already seen it three times. I have cried every time I’ve seen it. Balls of tears because I cannot believe the ending. It’s moving, and I don’t want it to be over. I want it to keep going, and it is a little bit hard for me in that sense, but I’m excited to see Dark Phoenix this summer.

You were a professional dancer at one point in your life. Have you thought about opening a dance studio at some point?

Gosh, when I was younger, I thought about that a lot, but right now it doesn’t come to mind. However, you never know what the future will hold. Maybe open a professional wrestling school that teaches people how to act, dance, and wrestler. Teach people how to become the greatest storytellers of all-time.

What is on your music playlist right now?

I am currently learning how to DJ, and I’m excited about that because I love music, dancing, and throwing parties. I was listening to Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Drake because Rusev has never heard Mr. Carter from Tha Carter III and hasn’t heard the whole Take Care album.

Jennifer Decker recently did an interview, and she talked about your work ethic and how she has met anyone with your determination and drive. When you hear your friends and peers say that about what does that mean for your self-confidence?

It is encouraging to me. At the end of my life, I want to be remembered as someone that inspired people to dream big and chase their dreams. The sky is the limit, they can make them possible, and when I hear what Jen said about me, it is encouraging to me. It also reinforces that I am on the right path.

For the first time in WWE, history, women headline Wrestlemania 35 earlier this year. Can you talk about the vibe and atmosphere throughout the stadium?

Being a part of history in women’s wrestling is incredible. To see how far we have come has been spectacular. WWE has so many opportunities for women and to be a part of the Women’s Evolution Era is exciting. I am thankful to be part of these matches that are making history and to support the women in that match of main-eventing WrestleMania. I am very very grateful for that. I started in NXT at the Performance Center which is our Development Program with Becky Lynch. So, to see her success brings me such happiness.

What the best gift you gave your mom for Mother’s Day thus far?

She likes to paint icons because she is an artist. So, I buy her trips to go on retreats to these week-long camps. Where she goes to these places, and there are icon workshops that she loves to do. It is really fun to see her do what she loves and that makes me happy.

With you and Rusev no longer a part of the Total Divas cast. Is there anything other types of content that you would like to be involved with, that will allow you to showcase your comedic sides?

There are a lot of things in the works. As they say, if the opportunity isn’t knocking at your door you must create the door. I strongly believe that! So, I can’t give away all the things that we are working on, but there are a lot of things in the works. However, we do have our comic book called Dark Country that will be coming out this year.

Do you know when we can expect Dark Country Comic book to be released?

Yes, it looks like right now it will be in December. That is Rusev’s idea because his birthday is on December 25th and he wants everything to land on Christmas and his birthday.

Can you talk Mickie James and Nattie’s leadership in the women’s locker room?

They are incredible! Nattie has helped me with my confidence and has taught me so much in the ring. She has helped guide me, I wrestled every day with her on SmackDown Live Events because we were both villains.  As for Mickie, this is the first time; I’m in the same locker room as her. She was just drafted to Smackdown Live, and she is already helping me within in the last month that she has been a part of the brand. I am very grateful to have someone that is this well seasoned in the business in the locker room. She is always offering ideas about story ideas, how to further my character and helping me in the ring. I am like wow because her knowledge of the business is phenomenal. Mickie is a true student of the game, and it’s vital to have these people in the locker room because that is who we learn from when it comes to wrestling psychology, and storytelling because we are stories tellers. We are also entertainers, who are putting smiles on people’s faces.

What titles would you like to see the WWE implement next?

I would like to see intergender tag team championships implemented next by the WWE. That way Rusev, and I can be the first ever tag team champs. We’ll push the envelope.
