Lightshow ft. Wale For – Your Side, My Side

Rising DC rapper Lightshow has teamed up with fellow DMV artist Wale for their new single “Your Side, My Side”, out now.

Released on Lightshow’s own 86 America imprint, “Your Side, My Side” sees Lightshow and Wale paying homage to their hometown and acknowledging the appreciation they receive from the DC area – despite hailing from different parts of the city. Produced by Mike Hector and Dez Wright, the minimalist trap beat showcases both MCs lyrical flows as they trade bars repping for their respective hometowns.

Speaking to Billboard about the inspiration behind the single, Lightshow states: “I want the fans to come visit DC and the surrounding areas, come to school here, party here, grind here, create here, invest here, hire here, respect here, just get to know the culture because it’s rich and it’s expanding.”

Wale has been championing Lightshow over the years, having initially featured him on 2012’s Folarin mixtape. “Lightshow is somebody who supports the culture from back home from all aspects: DC, Maryland, and Virgina,” Wale asserts. “This song makes the most sense for what I’m trying to do, for what he’s trying to do and you can best believe that me and Lightshow are about to have 100 more of these, so get ready this summer.”

Hailing from Southeast Washington, Lightshow has previously opened for 2 Chainz and the late Nipsey Hussle, while also performing at major festivals including SXSW, Broccoli City Festival, and Trillectro Music Festival.

“Your Side, My Side” is Lightshow’s first release since last August’s highly acclaimed EP Sleep When I Die. The multitalented artist is also the CEO of his independent record label, 86 America, which was established with the aim of creating employment opportunities for his peers in the local community.

The latest single confirms Lightshow as one of the most sought after rappers emerging out of the East Coast. “Your Side, My Side” is now available worldwide on all streaming platforms.
