AspireTV, the only network that celebrates, reflects and shares black culture and urban lifestyle — is continuing the year with an exciting lineup of original programming.
Premiering on Aspire this month is the short film Tre from filmmaker Nakia Stephens and her screenwriting label Damn Write Originals (“DWO”). Tre tells the story of an 8-year old boy who, desperate for his own identity, sets out to reclaim his sense of self by dropping his inherited name and choosing one of his own. After sudden tragedy strikes, he ultimately accepts the legacy he was given.
Tre is the first of a series of content commissioned by Aspire from DWO and will air on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16 as part of their Urban Indie Film Block. The film debuted at the Bentonville Film Festival in May and will screen at the American Black Film Festival this month.
