Duckwrth is on the Run in “Sallie Mae” Animatic Video

Duckwrth releases a provoking animatic for “SALLIE MAE,” a track from his groundbreaking project, THE FALLING MAN. Visually produced by iamninjad, “SALLIE MAE” is a high-speed chase that confronts both systematic and self-inflicted chaos head-on. Featuring Los Angeles-based recording artist NoMBe, the equally furious and saccharine track amplifies juxtapositions explored on THE FALLING MAN. Released on May 17th via Republic Records, the project is “somewhere between God and gangsta rap. One minute Duckwrth’s losing his religion, turning over tables in the temple like Jesus. The next, he’s questioning a lost generation’s allegiance to the trap. It’s a Shakespearean tragedy squeezed into an EP.” (NPR )

Named by NPR as one of the best album releases in May, alongside projects including Tyler, The Creator’s Igor and Ari Lennox’s Shea Butter Baby, Duckwrth’s THE FALLING MAN has been celebrated as a groundbreaking moment. “For a project so concerned with the idea of falling, failing, and losing one’s way, Duckwrth has managed to do the opposite,” Highsnobiety said. “He’s never sounded so in touch with himself or filled with purpose.” The 8-track project is accompanied with an experiential four act, short film that’s creative directed by Duckwrth. And it includes production from Medasin, Mr. Carmack, NoMBe, Two Fresh, strings from Harlan Silverman and features guest appearances from Terrace Martin, Rico Nasty, Allan Kingdom and Kiana Ledé.

With THE FALLING MAN as Duckwrth’s third solo project and with his first studio album on the way, the momentum has not paused in the slightest for the South Central rapper. Some of his most recent accolades include garnering over 22.7 million streams on Spotify for his Spider-Man single, “Start A Riot,” performing for Quincy Jones and Steve Mcqueen’s “Sounds of America” series, partnering with brands like Fila, Paul Smith, Creed, Diesel and Heineken, and collaborating with Palms Casino for their “UNSTATUS QUO ” campaign. Currently on tour in support of YBN Cordae, Duckwrth is preparing for a string of festival dates, including Openair Frauenfeld in Switzerland, Malmo Sommarscen in Sweden, Melt Festival in Germany, Afropunk Festival in Atlanta, Georgia and Austin City Limits in Austin, Texas. Stay tuned for more.
