Kylie Rothfield – Not Gonna Wait

After the incredible independent streaming success of her last two releases, “Newport” and “Monster”, which have collectively gained almost 250K streams from Spotify this year, Los Angeles-based artist Kylie Rothfield just released her 3rd single from this project.

“Not Gonna Wait” is a feel-good, 80’s inspired pop track about finally breaking free from a toxic, manipulative relationship:

“This song was initially being written about a dishonest ex, but it eventually became something deeper than that. I had already written quite a lot of sad songs about what I went through with this one guy in this one relationship that had changed me so deeply…always sort of hoping for closure. But the day we started writing this, I realized that I wasn’t sad anymore. I realized that the closure had already come from my own strength and knowledge and personal contentment and I no longer felt like I needed it from something or someone externally. It was incredibly empowering to write this song and know that I truly meant every word of it“– Kylie.

The making of this release was truly a group effort. Kylie co-wrote and co-produced the track at a small studio in LA with a team of 3 other collaborators: Zack Djurich (Kanye West, NAS, Teyana Taylor), Haleigh Bowers and Sam Vendig. This is Kylie’s second time co-producing a single with Zack (you can also hear his mixing/mastering work on previous single “Monster”).
