Who is Tanya Nolan?

Tanya Nolan has really made a name for herself as a soulful singer and songwriter, who is producing R&B and Pop Music. Nolan was born and raised in Galveston, Texas, but now resides in Houston, Texas. She has built her international resume through her hard work, dedication to her craft, and distinguished voice.

At a young age, Nolan admired and studied numerous artists that came before her. This was according to her, she was so enamored with the many genres of music. All of Nolan’s experience in life and in music has helped mold her into the artist she is today. She is a seasoned veteran, who has been performing live in front of audiences all over the world since she was 15 years old. Nolan has also graced the stage with numerous celebrities and according to her, she feels, that she will surprise a lot of people with her latest album release.

Nolan spoke to The Hype Magazine about how her career started and who were some of her biggest influences.

Tell us about your early life in Galveston and how music played an influential part in it?

My early life in Galveston was joyful and challenging….as far as Music. My parents played music all the time…this is part of the reason why I love it so much.

What were some of your first professional opportunities as a singer/songwriter?

Some of my first professional opportunities were when I had the pleasure to share the stage with some of the greats like The temptations, Shirley Murdock, Tony Terry, and Too Short.

You live in Houston now, how has that transition helped your career?

I was able to network with different Musicians and Producers…I was and still do build a different relationship with like-minded people who shares similar goals as mines.

Who would you say your four biggest influences have been?

My biggest influences are Clarence Avant, Oprah, Napoleon Hill, David Banner, and Mya Angelou.

What have been your two biggest career highlights thus far?

I am sharing the stage with the people I mentioned earlier and NOW.

You are currently working on an album, tell us about that?

My album will be self-titled and will be released during the 1st quarter of 2020.

You have released several singles with prominent rap features on them, will that be a feature on your album?

Yes, it will definitely be featured on my Album.

Your most recent video release, “All For Love” was a bold move for a black woman from Texas, what galvanized you to put yourself out there like that?

I don’t genuinely caring about what anyone thinks about my personal life.
