DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have requested waivers on forward Kostas Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo (6-10, 200) was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 60th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Dallas acquired his draft rights and the draft rights to 56th overall pick Ray Spalding from Philadelphia in exchange for the draft rights to 54th overall pick Shake Milton. He saw action in two games last season and made his NBA debut on March 20, 2019 in Portland.
“We are excited for Kostas to pursue other professional opportunities,” President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Donnie Nelson said. “Kostas worked very hard to improve his game and we are proud to have been a step in his development. We wish him all the best.”
The Athens, Greece native recently competed for the Mavericks at the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. In five games (all starts) with the team, he averaged 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 13.5 minutes per contest.
