Electro-Pop Artist from Manila RED TAN Releases Empowering Debut Single “DON’T YOU DARE”

Introducing Red Tan

They say things happen for a reason. Dance pop singer-songwriter, Red Tan, rises from the depths of depression to create music to express herself and inspire others who have been knocked down by life. This Fall, she will release her debut EP, Don’t You Dare, dedicated to her late husband, who strongly encouraged her to return to music right before his untimely death in 2017. Red released the title track, Don’t You Dare” out on Friday, July 26th, with a music video to follow in early August. Her debut EPDon’t You Darehits the digital streets on October 13, 2019, the 2nd anniversary of her husband’s death.

About the Artist

As a young mother and widow, Red pushed through her devastation to compete and win two medals at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. This experience prompted Red to write songs to inspire and empower others to pursue their dreams despite the many challenges, failures, rejections or criticisms they face.

Red had studied and performed music since age 16. She performed as a jazz singer all over the world, including in Manila, Dubai, Guam, and Malaysia. After marrying her husband, Cedrick Tan, in 2010, she decided to put her music career on the back burner to pursue her other passion — motherhood. After being a full-time mom to their baby boy for five years, her husband was the one to push her back into music. After driving her to the auditions, she immediately won a spot in the World Championships of Performing Arts. It was only two months later that her husband was bitten by a mosquito carrying the deadly Dengue virus, and he was struck dead shortly after.

From there, Red decided she would push herself to continue what her husband selflessly encouraged her to do. She went through to compete against other artists from 60 countries around the world and won two medals. She later moved to London, where she continued her training at a West-End theatre for musical masterclasses. She also performed at the prestigious O2 Arena as a grand finalist in Open Mic UK.

Red Tan follows her dream

Her experiences of moving to an unfamiliar environment after heartbreaking tragedy has proven to be a catalyst for Red to never give up on her dreams. She wrote and recorded her single “Don’t You Dare” and four other songs of empowerment at River Studios in Southampton, alongside music engineer Luke Adams (Pete Yorn, Jacob Dylan, Priscilla Ahn, Brandon Flowers of The Killers), and her mentor Chris Grayston (A&R scout for Sony UK). These songs make up the EP which Red will release this Fall.

Red Tan shows her strength and resilience through her music with her new EP, Don’t You Dare. Check out the inspiring title track, “Don’t You Dare”, out now on SpotifyiTunes and other music retail sites! And look out for Red’s new music video in early August.
