Back Story – Demie is an up and coming Asian-American female rapper, but she does not want to be confined as such.
Born and raised in Arcadia, CA, Demie started out as a classically trained ballet dancer. After discovering her love for rap and hip hop, she decided to completely switch paths and pursue a career in music. From fun dance songs to her slower, more romantic tracks, Demie shares her personal experiences of everything from turning up in Seoul to unexpected heartbreak.
Having songs in English, Chinese, and Korean, Demie hopes to reach across national boundaries rather than being confined under the label of an “Asian female” rapper. As a representative of the Asian-American community, Demie wishes to remind her fans to pay less attention to labels and to never allow your circumstances to define you- whether it be ethnicity, gender, or even size.
Demie will soon be releasing her debut EP, Airplane Mode. The album is inspired by her travels over the past couple years, both physically and mentally. Similar to the distance she has flown, “Airplane Mode” represents the miles she has traveled as a person and the growing pains that come with it.
Her latest single “Night Vision” is a smorgasbord of lyrical missiles, even when you might not understand the words, the meaning and venom are clear as a bright sunny day!
The Hype Magazine got the quadruple threat to weigh in on a few things…Tune in!
Demie’s ‘Night Vision’ is a new single from the VIBE Presents: Urban Asia Vol 2 compilation. From b2 Music and VIBE Magazine.
