Pop singer-songwriter NOA shares catchy track “Hypocritical”

NOA is a Toronto-born, pop singer-songwriter who’s about to take the music industry by storm. NOA’s dedicated fans have followed her to sold-out shows from Toronto’s Drake Hotel to Los Angeles’s Hotel Cafe, and the community grows every day. After a year in Los Angeles filled with songwriting and honing her sound as an artist, the 22 year old songstress is ready to share her voice with the world.

Her new single “Hypocritical” blends vibrant, catchy pop melodies with resonant emotions all the while remaining fun and lighthearted.

Listen to the song below and read our interview with the singer below!

What makes ‘Hypocritical’ different from your past work?

Hypocritical is a fun, upbeat and sexy summer tune and is actually the first fully produced track I’ve released yet. My last single ‘Casual’ which came out in August 2018 was an acoustic based track so releasing something fully produced has been super exciting!!

Can you describe the concept behind the new track?

Hypocritical’ was inspired by my own breakup aftermath; the realization that everything I didn’t want my ex to be doing, I was doing myself. In a post-breakup state, it’s so easy to get hung up on wanting your ex back, or at least not wanting him to move on, but in reality, whether you recognize it or not, you’re likely already moving on. Seeing my ex’s Instagram stories and Snapchats really highlighted these ‘Hypocritical’ feelings for me. Sometimes it’s okay to go through the motions and have these thoughts, but at the end of the day we have to face ourselves in the mirror and continue to grow from the ups and downs.

How would you describe your evolution throughout your career so far?

I feel like I’m just starting to scratch the surface. From playing shows in Toronto/Boston/LA, to opening for some of my favorite artists and having insanely talented mentors like Paula Cole and Livingston Taylor, and having the chance to work with some of the most talented musicians, I can’t wait to keep growing and doing what I love.

What’s been the biggest change in your life over the past year?

One of the biggest changes in my life this past year was being on Season 2 of CTV’s The Launch. That experience has been so incredible. It was very cool to be on TV and to see my face on billboards across the city. Definitely a little milestone moment in my career!!

What song by another artist do you wish you had written?

Bennie & The Jets by Elton John hands down!!! Also, Best Part by Daniel Caesar is so so good.

What else are you looking forward to this year?

RELEASING NEW MUSIC!! I’ve spent so much time in the studio this past year so I can’t wait to continue sharing what I’ve been working on…! Also, live shows are always one of my favourite parts of music. I get to meet and connect with my fans – so I also can’t wait for many more shows this year!
