Khalid’s “Free Spirit World Tour” kicked off in the world-famous Madison Square Garden Arena in NYC Wednesday night with a well diverse crowd.   Up and coming artist Clario opened the center stage with her neo-lounge sound prepping the crowd for its main attraction.

Her 2017 single “Pretty Girl” went viral on YouTube creating a buzz on the music scene.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts this twenty-year-old soon sought interests from major labels giants Capital, RCA, and Columbia to finally inking a deal with Fader Records label.  With family ties to Jon Cohen, Co-founder of The Fader Magazine, which later connected her to Chance the Rapper’s manager, Clario is making her way to through the industry.  Her 2019 debut album “Immunity” had fans chanting her tunes “Bags”, “Closer To You” and “Sofia”.  Clario’s sound is one of unique style.

On his first-ever arena tour, Khalid showed no signs of being the new kid on the block.  The R&B crooner captured his fans instantly with his smooth baritenor tone giving off that euphoric vibe he does.  Born in Fort Stewart, GA to military parents, Khalid began writing and creating his craft early in high school.  With the help of SoundCloud, he used that platform to build his career.  In 2016, he reached number two on Billboard’s twitter emerging artists chart with his smash single “Location” and by 2017 it reached the Top 10 winning him the VMA Award for Best New Artist.

His second single “Young, Dumb and Broke” became a sleeper hit with a pop sound that added another genre on his resume.  His debut album “American Teen” soared the billboard charts giving him numerous Grammy Award nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Song in 2018 and soon after went certified platinum.  “Loves Lies” his duet with artist Normani, recorded for the “Love Simon” film soundtrack reached top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 along with his politically motivated single “Youth” a collabo with Sean Mendes which hit home paying tribute to victims of gun violence. Since then Khalid has not skipped a beat.

His second album “Free Spirit” made its release April 2019 hitting 85,000 copies sold in its first week, Khalid had fans young and old jamming at MSG.  Performing all his songs including massive hits, “Better” and “Talk” having the crowd singing to his melodious R&B, electro-pop, indie rock tunes while his dancers added to the funky flare on stage.  Its clear this talented twenty-one-year-old is far from a one-hit-wonder proving his musical mark.
