Nigerian Music Artist, Soul Marley, Drops “Addiction” as his Debut Single

Soul Marley is a multi-faceted recording artist and producer who is well on his way to fame. He began recording in late 2018 and recently released his debut single entitled “Addiction” on July 25, 2019.

“I have always had a passion for musical instruments since I was a child,” said Marley. “It’s always been passion over perfection for me.”

Originally from the heart of Lagos, Nigeria, Marley currently resides in Johannesburg, South Africa. He chose the new track to remain true to his innate Nigerian roots and Afro sound. “Addiction” embodies a dark and sensual feel, yet groovy with a distinct flow influenced by his Nigerian roots.

However, listeners shouldn’t be misled by what could be construed as a cliché. He’s a highly versatile artist that infuses other genres that encompasses dancehall, R&B, reggae, soul, and alternative.

What happens when people encounter Marley’s sound is a lot of dancing. His combination of Afrobeat, dancehall, hip-hop, jazz, soulful blues, and reggae fuses into a unique sound with all manner of funk strumming patterns from a bass guitar, saxophone, bongo, piano and drums.

Some of Marley’s earliest memories are of music. He grew up with a passion for the art form while listening to diverse genres that were played by his father.

“As a teenager, I was fascinated with drums and as I grew older I started to practice and eventually played the drum and piano at my uncle’s church,” said Marley. “After much advice and persuasion from friends, one fateful day I decided to visit a friend’s studio to pursue my interest in music production. It was during this process, with no prior experience or intent of becoming a singer that led to the birth of Soul Marley.”
