Tyga Pays Homage to Lil Wayne in Latest Visuals “Lightskin Lil Wayne”

Lil Wayne is arguably one of the most influential rappers of all time, and Tyga pays homage in new video for “Lightskin Lil Wayne,” which arrived last month.

Co-directed by Tyga and Arrad, the visual shows T-Raww channeling his inner Weezy through a series of the New Orleans star’s biggest video moments to date. It begins with Tyga replicating 2008’s “A Milli” (complete with excessive tattoos and a signature syrofoam cup), then journeys through “Go DJ,” “Fireman” and “Lollipop.”

Tyga’s mannerisms and dance moves are incredibly spot-on, which comes as no surprise since Lil Wayne served as both his mentor and former Young Money label boss. The video then segues into “Too Many,” a Mustard-produced highlight from Tyga’s Legendary album, with the artist boasting about his onslaught of women and cash.

Years ago, Lil Wayne signed a young buzzing rapper called Tyga to his label Cash Money Records and made him a star. Tyga’s new music video “Lightskin Lil Wayne” begins with the message “A Tribute To The GOAT,” then proceeds to run through a series of homages to some of Wayne’s classic music videos.

Soon after the video’s premiere, Wayne expressed his appreciation on Instagram. He wrote: “Love!!!!!! That’s too dope bro. I’m at a lost for words after watching & listening to that! It feels gratifying to be honored in such a way! It feels uber better when it’s from ya broski!! Love @tyga.”
