Wiz Khalifa’s Decent Exposure Tour Lights Up So Cal

Written by Crystal Willis

Wiz Khalifa’s Decent Exposure Summer Tour hit close to home at Irvine’s Five Point Amphitheater on Friday, August 9. Khalifa’s supporting line-up featured the Bionics, Moneybagg Yo, DJ Drama and French Montana entertaining a nearly sold-out crowd ablaze with energy.

Moneybagg Yo’s bass pounding hits including “Big Facts” and “Doin 2 Much” had concert-goers jumping out of their seats as the Southern California sun began to set. The stage lights began pumping as the stars took to the sky and the stage. French Montana lit up the screaming crowd with his platinum-selling blend of East Coast rap and Moroccan swagger, performing hits like “Unforgettable,” “All The Way Up” and “Ain’t Worried Bout Nothin.” French’s twerking DJ Duffey added a bit of hot girl summer to the experience.  DJ Drama kept the energy up in between sets throughout the night.

The lights dropped low for a pounding video montage as smoke filled the stage. Wiz Khalifa made his grand entrance through the cloud to the track “King of Everything.” From start to finish, Wiz brought a notably infectious passion to his set performing a mix of platinum hits and songs from his latest mixtape Fly Times Vol. 1: The Good Fly Young. It was apparent from his joyful laughter and athleticism on stage that Khalifa was in his element, serving the fans the heavy dose of west coast hip hop they paid for.

Wiz was highly engaged with the audience, ensuring the smoke kept blowing and the inflatable joints passing during “Young, Wild and Free.” A fun moment was Wiz Khalifa’s surprisingly fresh cover of Lil Nas X’s record-breaking hit “Old Town Road.” He kept the party turned up into the night with hits like “We Dem Boyz,” “Black and Yellow,” “23,” and brought French Montana back out to perform his hit “Slide.” The evening came to a nostalgic close with a sea of cell phone lights swaying in homage to Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle.
