A.T Releases Single ‘Kumbaya’

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in Tottenham in north London, the multitalented singer, songwriter and producer is the first-ever signing to Universal Music On Demand (UMOD) discovered via Universal Music’s distribution platform for independent artists Spinnup, and marks a historic moment for the three-year-old label.

Bjork), ‘Kumbaya‘ received its first play from DJ Target on 1Xtra last night, cementing his reputation as a talent to watch as he breaks out in the afrobeat scene.
AT’s love of music, like many artists of a similar background, was honed by the church, where his musical family spearheaded the choir. However, even before his teens, his exceptional talent made him stand out. By the age of 12, he was writing and recording his own music, mastering drums, keyboards and guitar. Alongside learning his craft in church, his eclectic taste was forged by a thirst for music, from Fela Kuti and Lucky Dube to Flavour, Wizkid and Akon.
A.T says “When I was in school, my music teacher blessed me by giving me a key to the studio to use after hours. Every morning I became the first kid in school, so I could use the studio. I loved teaching myself how to play instruments and making my music career a living dream. I’m so excited to be able to share my brand new single ‘Kumbaya’ and to be a part of the Universal family”.
A.T, who has previously released music under the name Atueyii, describes his sound as a blend of Afro and Rhythmic R&B, driven by a desire to bring the “feel” back to Afro music that communicates a message of inspiration to share with others.
