Elijah Connor is Poised and Ready for Stardom, New Song ‘Reputation’

If you haven’t heard already, viral music sensation Elijah Connor is a proud product of Detroit. To top it off, he is also the younger cousin of legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Prince, and the godson of Aretha Franklin and Martha Reeves.  Therefore, it’s no surprise he was able to capture the world’s attention despite being voted off by Diddy, DJ Khaled and crew on the second season of Fox’s hit show The Four.

“If you can make it in Detroit, you can make it anywhere,” Connor said. “Not to mention, us Detroiters are just built different, we don’t let nothing stop us.  So, when I was voted off of the show, of course I was disappointed. But like I told them, it’s going to pop either way.”

Since his appearance on The Four, not only does he have a wildly popular meme that has reached one billion impressions – the one where he and Diddy engaged in the stare down seen around the world; he has also released some new music. His song Mill Ticket, featuring Tee Grizzley, was received well, surpassing one million views.

Now, he is making rounds with his latest single, Reputation, which he worked on with Grammy Award winning songwriter Makeba Riddick (Beyonce’, Rihanna, J.Lo, Eminem) and gearing up for a music video to accompany the track. The edgy tune is accentuated by confident horns and embodies the personality of Elijah Connor. In the lyrics, he speaks of his rising stardom, the influx of ladies vying for his time and the infamous stare down. The man’s got options, but he has not time for distractions. He is serious about where he’s going.

With all that said, Connor knows it is time to show and prove. The swag and star quality is clearly there, and as an unsigned artist, he has managed to curate a powerful brand without the help of a label. He has an EP currently in the works, on which he fully plans to showcase more of the creative artistry and vocal versatility fans have come to expect.

“Music is what I was created to do,” he said. “I’ve always dreamed of this and now it’s happening. I just want to encourage that young boy or girl out there that may feel like they aren’t good enough, I want them to know that they are and to take every “No” that’s thrown their way and look at it as “New Opportunity” and not to just go after your dreams, but to believe in yourself and make it happen. I can’t wait to share more of my gift with the world.”

Now is his moment of truth. The stage has been set and the world is watching.
