Off Set with Director, Producer and Filmmaker Sebastian Sdaigui

Meet Director/Producer and Filmmaker Sebastian Sdaigui a 2019 VMA Nominee for best Hip-Hop Video for his work directing 2Chainz’s and Ariana Grande’s Rule The World music video. He has a keen eye for unique characters and wild visuals. His work has garnered the attention of not only 2 Chainz and Ariana, but also Future, Ty Dolla $ign, French Montana, and Lil Kim and many more. Sebastian served as resident director at Def Jam Recordings, where he spearheaded the “I AM DEF JAM”campaign. This series continually celebrates individuality and identity in the music industry by delving into its artists’ personal lives and creative processes.  He has directed branded content for PGA, MLB, State Farm and more.

Projects outside of the music sphere showcase Sebastian’s penchant for cultivating relationships through storytelling. His film Headless earned him a Vimeo Staff pick for artfully capturing the energy and charisma of New York City subcultures. With his own background split between Mexican and Moroccan descent, Sebastian has a uniquely grounded approach to art-making through the eyes of underrepresented communities.

Sebastian also recently collaborated with Gucci for their new sneaker Ultra Space. See the Gucci collaboration here and he recently produced a video for eearz  H.O.E.S. FT Toujours Andrea.

We spent some time with Sebastian by phone to get an insight to what makes him love the visual arts so much. We got to understand a bit of his journey from the military to commanding crews from the Director’s Chair and how he feels it’s a similar lifestyle in some respects. Quite interesting is what makes him say NO to a project…very cut and dry which I loved. I could write or you could listen and it’s much more interesting in the audio than in black and white…TUNE IN!
