Tor’i “Bionic” Brooks: MTV Veteran Reaching New Heights

Tor’i Brooks is an American basketball player and television personality born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. Brooks’ mother decided to move Brooks and his siblings to Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of 7 due to increasing crime rates in his hometown. Brooks took advantage of his new surroundings; gaining accolades as a nation-wide athlete. Throughout his athletic career; Brooks have obtained many titles including a NIKE and New Balance championship while gaining 3 national titles in high jump as well as obtaining his high school record that still stands for high jump to this day at 6’8.

Competing at NCAA D1, D2 and NAIA levels; Brooks decided to take his talents outside his college career. After graduating from Davenport University, Brooks decided to compete nationwide as a track and field athlete. Competing amongst other athletes; Brooks earned the opportunity to compete in the 2015 USA Track and Field Championships alongside his sister; Olympic shot putter Tia Brooks, becoming the first siblings to compete in over five years.

After the 2015 USA Championships; Tor’i decided to move to Los Angeles,CA to pursue his dreams as a media personality. While establishing his brand, Brooks obtain his life-changing opportunity to become a contestant on MTVs hit show “Ex on the Beach”. Along with his television debut; Brooks has starred in campaign shoots for Nike, NBA, Jordan, Adidas, PUMA, Galore, True Religion and more as a model and an actor. Brooks athletic skills followed him to Los Angeles; creating more opportunities to showcase his skills. His array of dunk competitions landed Brooks his nickname “Bionic” as well as an official roster headline for the world famous Harlem Globetrotters.

While competing throughout various pro league and teams from the USA, Canada and Mexico; Brooks snagged his first world championship in 2019. Competing against numerous teams from all over the world, Brooks beat out his competitors that were presented from the​ Euroleague, NBL (National Basketball League), NBLC (National Basketball League Canada), CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) and the NBA G league.

Brooks decided in 2018 to combine his love for sports and philanthropy; establishing his non-profit organization “Beyond an Athlete”. The mission of Brooks organization is to uplift and educate student athletes when it handling pressure that is instilled within athletes to succeed while exploring life options outside of being a professional athlete.

His marketing brand Bionic has also reached career pinnacles such as consulting for numerous NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Competitions as well as events in Canada and Mexico. Along with consulting; Brooks has gained video credentials for athletes such as Brandon Bdot Armstrong, Max is Nice, Famous Los, Page Kennedy and more while landing a partnership with the infamous Bleacher Reports with many projects to come in the near future.

Brooks’ versatile talents and skills has given this media personality more than 15 minutes of fame. Along with his high school and university career as well as his acting and media opportunities, Brooks is an upcoming class act that is not to be missed in the entertainment industry. Rather Brooks is playing basketball, empowering the next generation and/or obtaining many roles for acting and working in the marketing realm, Brooks is ready to take his brand to the next level, achieving all goals and opportunities that comes his way.
