Checking in With Influencer, Author and Entrepreneur Jayda Cheaves

Back Story – Jayda Cheaves is a best-selling author, entrepreneur, fashion enthusiast, and celebrity influencer with a following of 2 million on Instagram, and over 80K Youtube Subscribers.

Jayda Cheaves began her start as an entrepreneur by utilizing the app, Poshmark where she would reseller her clothes. Finding a liking to fashion, Jayda decided to create  a t-shirt line at only 16 years old. After so many sold out shirts, Jayda realized that she had a knack for marketing and branding, and began to quickly grow her following with her custom designs, raw personality, and fun interactions with fans on social media. Jayda then transitioned into the beauty industry by creating Amour Jayda, LLC., where she would offer  wigs, bundles, and other hair accessories targeting millennial African American women with a bold personality just like hers. After writing, “The Young Boss Blueprint: 15 Steps to Becoming a Young Boss,” her fans fell more in love with her relatable content and her desire to inspire young girl bosses worldwide.

Anything that Jayda touched was a complete success! Her clothing line has a history of selling out just days after its release, and there was always a constant demand on her hair products that her customers seemed to love. Jayda’s followers have gone from being customers, to fans, and now family – supporting everything she does. The now 22 year old millionaire, author, YouTuber, social media influencer, entrepreneur, and mom, has become one of social media’s prime influencers with a following of over 2 million, large brand partnerships with Fashion Nova, Pretty Little Thing, GSU WOO, and more who partner with Jayda for her beauty/fashion reviews. Jayda has become a successful public figure by mentoring upcoming girl bosses on how to create and maintain their businesses using what she learned from her many successful ventures and platforms.

We caught up with Jayda and got her to weigh in on a few things

Tell us a bit about the Celeb Influencer and successful author that is Jayda Cheaves!

“I am an author, beauty enthusiast, and social media influencer. I got most of my notoriety when I was only 16 years old, and I created a t-shirt line. I guess the entrepreneurial bug was just in me. Since then, I’ve built my empire by knowing what people like. I know my fans and I connect with them very well. They’re super supportive of every venture that I’ve started, and I’m so grateful for that.”

What is the greatest part of your business experience?

“The best part of my business experience would have to be the traveling. Getting to come face to face with so many people who send me countless messages on social media and then I finally get to meet them and feel their love… that’s definitely an experience for the books. Other than that, I would say the lessons. I’ve learned that business can get very difficult, and there are so many things that I want to do, so I keep challenging myself to do more, make more money, and meet more people. The entire experience can be trying, but I love it.”

What do you feel are a couple of key takeaways from your book “The Young Boss Blueprint…”?

“My best takeaways is for people to sell themselves, before they sell an item. People love ME! That’s why I can sell anything, and they will buy it. I’ve always remained true to myself in this industry. In my YouTube channel, I give people the opportunity to get to know the funny & goofy side of me. I love myself, and people genuinely feel that and it makes them feel like they are getting to know me as well. So my #1 piece of advice is sell yourself and your personality and everything else will follow if people like you.”

Tell us about your mentorship of other young entrepreneurs!

“My team stays on me about reaching out and connecting with more young girls. I see that teens are becoming entrepreneurs now by like age 13, and that’s great. My job is to make sure that I give them whatever they want from me; whether if it’s support, a ‘how-to’ guide, or some motivational words… I just want for people to know that they have a friend in business.”

What are your tips for using the digital space for marketing and branding?

“You have to be confident to be an influencer. I’m constantly trying different things in fashion + beauty so I guess that’s what makes me a trendsetter. Everyone always asks me how to become an influencer, and you just have to get people’s attention, and don’t be afraid to be you.”

Where can we find you?

“Follow my Instagram: @thejaydacheaves.

I love getting more personal with people on Twitter @waydamin.

You can watch all my goofy moments on YouTube @JaydaCheaves

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” aka WTF?! moment…

“My craziest “where they do that at?’ moment would have to be, every time I’m on the road. Every now and again I see people do some of the most outrageous things to show their love and get my attention. It’s honestly crazy but I love every moment. My craziest moment would have to be when I recently crowd surfed during one of my bookings. I know everyone was like, “WTF Jayda,” but again… we all love it!
