0Exclusive: These People Premieres “Easy To Read” Via The Hype
When everyday people think of “the Long Island music scene,” odds are that they think of Billy Joel, Public Enemy and/or The Stray Cats. But the reality is that Long Island, New York has been a hotbed of internationally-known musical talent for decades. You name the genre and I can name influential artists — past or present — who have been associated with the counties of Nassau and Suffolk.
As a followup to our August 2019 interview with Tj Penzone, The Hype Magazine is proud to premiere “Easy To Read” by Long Beach, Long Island band These People. Penzone answered a few questions about “Easy To Read” and what else is coming up for both himself and These People.
In the meantime, more on These People can be found online by visiting www.thesepeople.org.
When did you write “Easy To Read?” Where did you record it?
Tj Penzone: I actually wrote the shell of it about 3 years ago in my previous recording studio, but put it on the back-burner. Then when I was putting the new EP together I had a bunch of songs to pull from, and it just felt like it fit. So I finished it at my new spot in Long Beach. Also, I had a friend who had a sitar. You don’t often find real sitars just lying around on Long Island, so I had to jump on the opportunity. I think it really added new life to the song.
What’s coming up for These People in the coming months?
Tj Penzone: A music video for the song “Brain Clouds” off the new EP is in the works. Also, we’re gonna be doing an EP release show at Speakeasy in Long Beach on November 8th. I’ve already started getting the next release together as well.
Anything else coming up for you beyond These People?
Tj Penzone: More producing & mixing. I have some really great bands and artists I’m working with right now. I’m excited to finish whats been started. Also, I’m gonna be doing some co-writing for other people. I haven’t done that in a long awhile, so I think that will be fun.
