Marilyn Manson gets freaky in Dallas as he headlined 97.1 The Eagle’s annual “Freakers Ball” concert with supporting acts, Blacktop Mojo, 10 Years, Bad Wolves, and Bush. It’s no secret that Manson is one of the most controversial artists in heavy metal. He even took a moment to talk with the crowd after his first two songs (Irresponsible Hate Anthem and This is the New Shit) and apologized to Dallas for having to sit through “some shitty bands” before he hit the stage. The crowd was a little surprised, though they shouldn’t be, by his comments. He followed by stating they weren’t all shitty, but some of them are shitty. Manson didn’t specify who he was referring to, so fans can only assume who they think he thinks is “s****.”

Along with his controversy persona, Manson was once blamed by the media for the famous Columbine shooting in 1999 because of his violent music and claims that the two students responsible for the incident were fans of Manson. Reports later came out that it was false.

Although Manson refers to himself as the “Anti-Christ Superstar,” he has stated in interviews that he believes in Jesus and even has crucifixes hanging up in his home.

The metal singer also lit a blunt on stage as he asked the crowd how many of them were currently on illegal drugs, which got hundreds of cheers in response, before playing his 1998 hit “The Dope Show.” Manson never fails to disappoint his fans at a live show as he changes outfits throughout, brings props on stage such as a tall, red, podium and plays fan-favorites “Sweet Dreams” and “The Beautiful People” before leaving the stage and coming back for an encore to leave with “Coma White.” Manson wraps up his tour in Vegas on Halloween, Anaheim (Nov 2), and Phoenix (Nov 3).
