Premiere: Jony Shelby Drops New Reflective Single ‘Yousomad’
Jony Shelby brings a big sound to his latest single “Yousomad” with a salute to both Hip Hop and Pop music as he transitions naturally between vocalist and lyricist. Handling the production, mixing, and arrangement of the joint all on his lonesome, Jony delivers a project that aptly earns him the title of jack of all trades as handed down by ZO Magazine.

Jony Shelby is based out of Austin, TX and has quickly risen through the ranks there, having only dropped his debut EP last fall, featured by the likes of Elevator and ZO Magazine, who stated Shelby as a “jack of all trades” who “experiments with hip-hop in a way that breathes vitality into the hip-hop scene” . This guy is a real boundary pusher in hip-hop / electronica, with an insane amount of uniqueness & raw talent. His latest single features production and mixing entirely from himself, as well as vibes reminiscent to the likes of James Blake and Kid Cudi.
Handling the arrangement by himself, Shelby brings Yusomad to life. The track refers to a point in his life where he was trying to find himself after dealing with the weight of past relationships and life experiences. Because of this, he places too much importance in a current relationship and reacts in unhealthy ways whenever it seems to be going south. The single will be supported with a one-take, choreographed dance music video, focusing on visual symbols to portray the song’s message.
The music video, from an award-winning director, was made entirely possible by a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign.
