THORNHILL Reveal Dizzying New Single “In My Skin”

Days away from the release of their debut album The Dark Pool, rapidly rising heavy-hitters Thornhill have lifted the lid on their next single “In My Skin.” Exploring issues of body image and self-acceptance, the track marks one of the closest personal moments on the record for lead vocalist Jacob Charlton.

It follows lead single “Nurture” jumping out of the gate into triple j rotation, as well as the band’s hometown album launch show selling out over two months in advance. Their latest offering “Where We Go When We Die” also swung heads for its staggering cinematic visuals, meanwhile all remaining dates on the five-piece’s headline album tour are moving quickly. More details below.

’In My Skin’ is a huge one on the album for me, I’ve never liked what I look like, I’ve looked in the mirror a million times and hated myself, so I decided that this year, 2019, was the year I did something about it,” Jacob says. “After UNIFY, I got off stage and saw the pictures and I absolutely hated how I looked, so after that I cut my hair off and have since lost 15kgs. I’m still not where I want to be, but I’m going hard enough at it that I simply can’t hate myself because I’m on the journey.

While this song is about me and my body, it can be for everyone dealing with something they’re not happy with. I’ve learnt that you can be happier just for doing something about it, rather than necessarily getting to the outcome.

Since emerging in 2016, Thornhill have made a playground of the Australian heavy sphere, earmarking themselves as one of the country’s most refreshing and unrelenting emerging acts. Having stretched their touring muscles alongside the likes of Northlane, Architects, Parkway Drive, In Hearts Wake and Polaris and impressed with releases including their 2018 EP Butterfly and single “Coven,” the clever and colourful The Dark Pool promises to be a breakout for Thornhill.

The band will celebrate the album’s release with a string of national headline tour dates throughout November, with tickets available HERE. They’ll also headline the debut Misery Emo Boat Party, before joining US metalcore giants Wage War on their European run in January.

The Dark Pool will be released this Friday, October 25th via UNFD, and is available for pre-order now at unfd.lnk.to/TheDarkPool.
