Mistique Releases “Don’t Set Me Free”

Hailing from the city of greats, Bed-Stuy, Queen Mistique is said to be the next best thing.

From a young age, Mistique knew she was destined for something beyond school choir. Even though her friends decided to take a different path after high school, nothing could alter Mistique’s dream from music. Fast forward to today, she is writing, in the studio and performing any opportunity she is given.

Her new single, “Don’t Set Me Free”, gives fans an inside look into Mistique’s world. Whether she is the individual in the song or not, Mistique illustrates a relationship to listeners. Through her words, she depicts someone who is in love and does not want to be let go. In more situations than not, we find ourselves in relationships where we are not loved back or loved at all.

Mistique shares one side of this situation in her single. She raps about the side that gives their all to the other person. Her words tell us that regardless of the way that person is treating her, she doesn’t want them to let go of her.
