Melanie Iglesias Releases “L is a B”, A Dynamic New Single About Celebrity Drama and Mental Health

Melanie Iglesias is an artist who comes truly equipped for anything. Released today, her new single “L is a B” reflects on the emotional journey that comes with being in the public eye, not only alone but  alongside other notable celebrity figures. It’s easy to get wrapped up in all of the negativity and judgement that accompanies the high pressure environment of being an influencer on social media. But when the people you’re closest to turn against you, a feeling of isolation quickly follows; Melanie’s depression being weaponized against her gives listeners a glimpse into how unforgiving this industry can be.

This in mind, Melanie’s return to the microphone is even more impressive as she recovers from a long battle with vocal nodules. Her physical limitations prompted her pivot into the world of acting and modeling, which is where she faced both incredible scrutiny and incredible success. “L is a B” delivers refreshingly honest lyrics that are to the point, giving her fans and closest followers a glance into the struggles she has faced on a very personal level. She talks about the ugly side of fame; a taste of mass praise can change people, and not in the way that she suspected.

“Life is a bitch, love is a game, sometimes people change when they get some fame…”

“L is a B” starts with a voicemail recording, prompting Melanie to leave her message; the song goes on to offer a bouncy lyrical pop structure over gentle notes of R&B. “L is a B” delivers a moody vibe, very fitting for the introspection that wintertime brings. The songs slight 90’s feel also offers a fun-loving energy which proves that despite circumstances, Melanie has no time for drama. As we launch into the next decade, she takes the high road…busy producing the art she was always meant to make.

“She’ll step on anybody’s neck, she gotta have it. Ain’t that shit tragic…”

After being voted Maxim’s ‘Hometown Hotties’ winner in 2010, Melanie went on to be featured in magazines like Worlds Most Beautiful, Esquire and Vibe as well as the special edition cover of Maxim USA. She was voted one of the ’30 sexiest celebrities under 30′ in Vibe and later appeared on three seasons of MTV’s The Guy Code as well as the spin off series Girl Code.

Over the course of the next decade, her YouTube influencer status offered her fans a dose of personality, beauty, and most recently, incredible music. Her appearances on shows like Tosh.O, Orange is the New Black, as well as a Guest DJ spot on The Ellen Degeneres Show built fully-fledged momentum and a dedicated fan base who are now ready to receive the music that Melanie has been ready to release. Having to put music aside while she healed from vocal nodules was no easy task. This in mind, what we are about to receive from Melanie is an incredible perspective built on years of both prosperity and turbulence in today’s entertainment industry. “L is a B” follows her previous single “Obvious”. It also precedes her highly anticipated album set to release in early 2020.
