NYC Icon and Singer Lumidee Releases Surprise Holiday Song & Visual “Slay Ride”

With the Thanksgiving holiday officially over, the godmother of Spanish Harlem, Lumidee, releases a surprise Christmas single “Slay Ride” (prod. Ibra-Heem) and delivered a fun-filled accompanying visual. The i78-directed music video is definitely a must-watch as she hosts a potluck-style holiday dinner with close friends (including some beloved notable NYC figures) and family as the cameras rolled the entire time.

Known for her chart-topping songs such as “Never Leave You (Uh Oh)” and “She’s Like The Wind” ft. Tony Sunshine, Lumidee has remained a cultural icon and beloved artist since bursting onto the scene in 2003 with hit records that became synonymous with the New York City music scene. Since then, she’s kept busy, having won ASCAP Pop Awards over the past three years penning multiple hit records including DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s single “Let Me Love You,” last year. Now, Lumidee looks to shift the focus to herself with “Slay Ride” which will set the tone for her EP and documentary releasing in 2020.

Another New York legend, Mariah Carey, has regularly dominated the holiday charts since releasing her instant classic “All I Want For Christmas.” Lumidee, having idolized Mariah Carey “since forever,” as she explains, was inspired to create her own holiday mainstay. She goes on to say, “There’s always some room for friendly competition.”

Throughout the course of her 15+-year career, Lumidee has steadily toured the world and her “Never Leave You (Uh Oh)” record has continued to be a licensing monster, most re- cently, featured in the T-Mobile iPhone X campaign throughout all of Latin America. Having a song that is as timeless “Never Leave You (Uh Oh)” gives Lumidee true staying power.
