0Osana AD Fuses Cultures With ‘Orange London’
Osana AD cites Fela Kuti as one of his biggest inspirations, but the London-based musician is contradicting his statement of ‘music is a weapon’. The writer wants his music to have the power to challenge political problems, whilst also spreading positive energy. Rather than being flagged as ‘red’, Osana AD sees his music as a more neutral ‘orange’, which reflects the sunshine of his Nigerian homeland, as well as a sunrise bringing a new beginning. This, in turn, inspiring the EP title ‘Orange London’.
Osana AD moved to the UK aged only 17 and brought with him his key influences of Afrobeat and Afropop, which became infused with diverse sounds from his new home. The singer used new relationships and surroundings to inspire his works, steering away from heavily political narratives. It is this fusion of cultures that Osana AD is so passionate about sharing with the world.
