0New York’s “Masquerade Rock Music Fest” Makes Its Return With Sponge, Everclear & The Raskins
On January 17, 2020, New York rock fans had an excellent line-up to celebrate the end of their work week with at Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall in Wantagh, New York. Billed as Masquerade Rock Music Fest, the Friday evening event featured three bands: Everclear, Sponge, and The Raskins.
Everclear and Sponge were of course responsible for plenty of MTV and radio hits — including “Santa Monica,” “Everything To Everyone,” “Wonderful,” “Plowed,” “Molly (Sixteen Candles)” and “Wax Ecstatic” — while The Raskins themselves have toured alongside Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, and Steel Panther. The profile of the event was further raised in being hosted by That Metal Show co-host (and notable stand-up comedian) Don Jamieson and supported by local rock radio staple WBAB-FM 102.3
Said Art Alexakis, frontman of Everclear, in a prepared statement before the gig: “We’re excited to get back in front of our New York fans for Masquerade Rock Music Fest. It’s going to be a great show with a killer lineup.” Vinnie Dombroski of Sponge echoed Alexais’ sentiments: “Sponge is excited to be a part of a great lineup.” Added The Raskins’ Logan Raskin: “It’s an honor for my brother and I to have the Raskins playing with some of our favorite bands, listening to these bands for many years as fans and having the opportunity to share the same stage with them at the Masquerade Rock Music Fest.”
As the second Masquerade Rock Music Fest — the previous outing took place at The Space At Westbury, as featuring Puddle Of Mudd and Fuel beyond Sponge, The Raskins and Jamieson — New York rock fans ought to be supporting this particular concert series. It brings together great bands and great fans in relaxed, intimate spaces.
