Recap of Former Eagles’ Quarterback Donovan McNabb’s Year Thus Far
The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame honored him. He hung out with comedian Kevin Hart. His former coach won the Super Bowl. And an old friend was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
So yeah, big doings these days for former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who, despite being out of the NFL since 2011 continues to maintain a high profile.
Starting with the most recent news:
On Feb. 5 McNabb was a guest on Hart’s “Laugh Out Loud” radio show, and gifted Hart with a game-worn jersey from his 11 years with the Eagles (1999-2009). To say Hart was excited would be a bit of an understatement:
Three days earlier, Andy Reid, who served as Philadelphia’s head coach during McNabb’s entire tenure in town, led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54 in Miami. It was the first world championship for the 61-year-old Reid, in his 21st year as a head coach.
McNabb was only too happy to congratulate his former boss:

Reid had asked McNabb to address the Chiefs in the days leading up to the game, part
of a week that also saw McNabb hang out with such big names as Derek Jeter …
Peyton Manning …
And Dr. Oz (along with Brian Westbrook, McNabb’s former Eagles teammate).
In mid-January McNabb added to the chorus of congratulations for former Eagles great Harold Carmichael upon his selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Carmichael, who played from 1971-84 and remains the Birds’ all-time leading receiver, was part of the team’s staff during McNabb’s playing days.
Two months earlier McNabb was himself honored with his induction into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame, a ceremony that Reid made time to attend, despite the fact that the Chiefs were amid game-week preparations.
Finally, McNabb offered a melancholy farewell to basketball star Kobe Bryant, who was among nine to die in a Jan. 26 helicopter crash near Los Angeles.
