About 66% of Americans Sleep With Their Phone at Night

While smartphones have simplified our lives in many ways, concern surrounding screen time is also on the rise. Companies such as Apple and Google have even presented solutions to combat screen time ranging from weekly usage reports to an envelope that limits your phone’s functionality.  Reviews.org was curious to see just how attached we are to these devices. It turns out, most of us can’t even sleep without them.

Here are just a few findings from the survey:

  • 65.7% of Americans admit to sleeping with their phone at night.
  • 65.6% of people say they check their phones up to 160x a day, that’s once every 9 minutes!
  • Despite 60.6% of people upgrading their phones in the last year, Americans said they would downgrade and switch to a flip phone if they were paid $2,150.

Who and What: Reviews.org conducted an anonymous survey of 500 men and women regarding their sentiments around cell phone usage, their cell phone habits, and how highly they value time spent with their phones as compared to time spent performing other activities.

Why: There seems to be a growing dependence on smartphones and we were curious to see how the average American strikes a balance between screen time and other activities.
