Artist Aaron Axelrod To Encapsulate Wisdome.LA With Melting Rainbows Exhibition A Live Immersive Performance

Renowned LA-based artist Aaron Axelrod, is set to take over Wisdome Immersive Art Park and its Dome theaters for the highly anticipated live “Melting Rainbows” exhibition in an expansive 360 display.

Melting Rainbows is a multi-faceted art project which encompasses parts of performance, video art, and the art of photography. This exhibition was created out of the vacuum in Axelrod’s practice to not only create in the solitude and loneliness of a studio setting, but to feed off of energy of a crowd. Rather being about a final piece of work to be admired, Melting Rainbows is the complete opposite, putting the process itself in the spotlight in which there is no ending, but always different and for ever changing.

At heart, Melting Rainbows demonstrates a work that’s about the journey not the destination. As a performance piece, Axelrod created the “Rainbow Melter”, a contraption used as a live canvas as paint drowns the surface while being manipulated by the artist’s hands and face. As a carefully curated list of music sets the tone, the “Rainbow Melter” projects onto the dome theater screens in real time encapsulating the entire venue. The result is a multi-colored melting rainbow shower that is all consuming on the audience, similar to a live Northern Lights experience made of paint and spliced with photographic stills that make an appearance during the performance.

“Melting Rainbows” will be taking place on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm with tickets available on Eventbrite. An additional ticket will be available for “Dead in the Dome, Infrared Roses” directly following the Melting Rainbows performance from 9pm – 1am. “Infrared Roses” Is a creative side project/album by the Grateful Dead. This performance will feature the late Jerry Garcia’s original artwork accompanied by notable touring musicians from the Dead, Pink Floyd and other special guests.
