0Brian Posehn On His New Album “Grandpa Metal,” Touring Plans, Scott Ian, Metal Influences & More
Brian Posehn has been busy for decades. As a writer, actor and stand-up comic, you have undoubtedly seen him in a variety of projects, including The Big Bang Theory, New Girl, Lady Dynamite, Mr. Show, Seinfeld, Friends, The Sarah Silverman Program and The Comedians Of Comedy. And that is without factoring in his extensive voice-over credits (including The Simpsons), his podcast-hosting (Nerd Poker), his book (2018’s Forever Nerdy: Living My Dorky Dreams & Staying Metal), his comedy albums (including The Fartist), or the 45 issues of the Deadpool comic book he co-wrote.
As if Brian Posehn didn’t need more to do, he has a new “comedy metal” album titled Grandpa Metal. Years in the making, Grandpa Metal features an all-star cast of performers including Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Slayer’s Gary Holt, Testament’s Alex Skolnick and Chuck Billy, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Anthrax’s Scott Ian. It also includes the last known recording by singer Jill Janus. Produced by Jay Ruston, its first single is a cover of A-Ha’s “Take On Me.”
I had the pleasure of interviewing Brian Posehn by phone on February 5, 2020. The full interview — embedded below — will also be appearing on an upcoming episode of the Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz podcast. More on Posehn and the Megaforce Records-released Grandpa Metal album can be found online by visiting his official website at www.brianposehn.com.
