Nicky Romero’s New Single “Stay” Will Take You Back to Your First Love

Nicky Romero showcases his softer side with “Stay.” Drawing upon the style of his 2019 releases like “Love You Forever” ft. Sam Martin, “Sometimes” with DallasK, and “Distance” with Olivia Holt, Romero trades in driving basslines and big-room synths for gently undulating instrumentals and a gently progressive drop in the new track. The Protocol label head pairs the dreamy melodies with emotive vocals, producing lines like “why don’t we stay, and not get older like we’re supposed to” that evoke the nostalgia of youthful romance. “Stay” follows Nicky’s club-ready “I See” released in January as Romero’s first single of the year.

After taking the world by storm with early hits such as “Legacy” (with Krewella) and #1 single “I Could Be The One” (with Avicii), Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. After launching his Protocol Recordings imprint in 2012, the renowned performer, producer, and label head continued his personal successes with a string of high-profile releases, ranging from collabs with Mike Williams & Amba ShepherdDimitri Vegas & Like MikeW&WDallasK & XYLØ and Steve Aoki & Kiiara to remixes for the likes of KygoRita OraDavid GuettaSteve AokiMartin GarrixJess Glynne and more.
