Bensbeendead. Searches For Solace In New Visual “Prayer”

Portland, Maine vocalist/producer Bensbeendead. delivers breathtaking new visual alongside new single “Prayer” ahead of his forthcoming project ‘Imposter Syndrome’, due out this Fall. The video, featuring the lone artist wandering Arizona’s vast Monument Valley, expertly traces the feelings of isolation and despair that can often come with Atheism.

“In a lot of ways, ‘Prayer’ might seem like a song about finding solace in religion, but to me it’s actually the opposite… I wanted to write a song as someone who’s never really felt connected to any type of religion, or the idea of a ‘God’ … When I feel uncertain, who do I turn to? Is anybody even listening? How can I ‘Let go and let God’ if I don’t believe in a God? Who do the nonbelievers pray to?”

Bensbeendead.

Bensbeendead. didn’t focus his sights on a musical career at first; initially dreaming he would enter the world of professional basketball. Post high school, inspired by his musical sister, he began producing rap beats for his friends in Garageband. The young trailblazer leads the way for many of Maine’s other out-of-the-box creatives:

“Growing up in Maine being a musician made it seem nearly impossible to have a successful career in the industry,” he reports. “Rarely did we see artists make it out, and if they did, it was usually Folk, Bluegrass, or Americana groups because that was really what the rest of America knew us for.”

Bensbeendead.’s style can be described as a dreamy blend of electronic pop and alt R&B laden with airy synths and bubbly percussion. He seeks to comfort the disturbed by producing sonic landscapes that create an escape from daily life and inspire creativity. Putting thoughts into words provides a welcome respite from his anxiety around finding his personal identity and importance in the world at large. In today’s turbulent climate, this is also his main hope for his audience. His haunting vocals paired with deeply thematic storytelling make his music a delicious offering to the youth.

Following his second single of the year, Bensbeendead. readies fans for his forthcoming Fall project ‘Imposter Syndrome’. The emotional album was created to reflect his time spent experimenting and cultivating his own sound, not knowing if it would ever feel good enough or true enough. With ‘Imposter Syndrome’, he dives into writing about the gritty and real issues that affect his daily life like the deterioration of familial relationships and turning inward to evaluate what it takes to feel true happiness.

Through his various music releases, he’s built an impressive audience and has shared the stage with the likes of DMX, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Lil Tecca
