Black Catt Hopes to Perform New Single, “No L’s” During Gervonta Davis’ Next Ring Walk

Talented Detroit rapper, Black Catt keeping his fans satisfied with new single until, “New York Minute” drops!

Black Catt is back! The Detroit rapper returns with a new single, “No L’s.” It’s the perfect counterpart to, DJ Khaled’s, “All I Do Is Win!” While his highly anticipated project, “New York Minute” is being finished up, BC provides us with an energetic anthem with a catchy hook that seems destined to enter the sports world at some point. Nick Price laced, Catt with perfect production and they produced a banger! It’s the perfect follow-up to his last single, “Ayyyyy.” Black Catt plans on staying busy in the studio and is predicting a hot summer, as he has several projects lined up to be released.

Check out his explanation as to how he came up with, “No L’s,” as well as his desire to walk undefeated lightweight kingpin, Gervonta Davis to the ring with the hit single.

The “No L’s” single seems to be a success. How are you feeling?

Black Catt: Feeling good, man. Just on some DJ Khaled shit.

Tell us about the single, man.

Black Catt: I’m gon be 1k with you, me and Rick flew out to New York to rock with Nick. They keeping up, putting the album together. Shout out to Nick Price. We flew out there and we did a record. So, we go out on the rooftop and we blowing. Next thing you know, I hear this beat. I’m like, “What the fuck is that?” I’m talking to somebody and I’m like, “Yo bro, I’m gonna holla at you later.” It’s cold in New York and we’re on this lil rooftop. I climb through this window and I’m like, “Yo bro, whatever you do keep it going. I’m about to start right now. Start it from the top.” Funny enough, that was actually my first time freestyling in the studio. Yeah, we just kind of went with it and we just figured it was the record for us. This space has, “New York Minute” written all over it. As time passed, we lost a lot of people, especially the past year. Rest in peace, Nipsey, Kobe… so many. I lost a lot of people on my end. The meaning just starting to get deeper. And then I got my boy, he’s with the, Memphis Hustle [NBA G-League], his name is, Raynere Thronton. He just signed with the NBA G-League. The dots just started to connect all around me. It was like, yeah, this the one.

Our last conversation you talked about being on the rooftop and getting creative up there. What is it about this particular rooftop, man (laughing)?

Black Catt: (Laughing). I was joking with, Nick. Like, we literally just did this song, and he was like, “Yeah man!” I always try to blame it on the weed (laughing).

To put together a project and it turns out exactly how you wanted it. How does that feel?

Black Catt: Ah man, it’s funny you say that because, me, Nick and my other engineer was just talking about it. We were having a conversation and I was like, “Man, these records we’ve been doing for the past year and a half sounds exactly like I wanted them to.” The biggest thing for me, if I could listen to it over and over, it’s all about drive time for me. My music is for the club, it’s also for driving around and so many other things. So, if I could listen to it over and over again or if I can play it for somebody and they be like, “Yo, this you?” Then I know I hit a cord, you feel me.

Like I mentioned earlier, it seems like the reception has been great.

Black Catt: It’s going crazy on TikTok right now. I went on there when I was in the studio last night, and I see this YouTuber who has a crazy following doing a video. And now all the kids are doing it. And this one kid… it was like the funniest thing. I was dying. He was making little signs or something. So, TikTok and my guys that do the “Car Reactions” did a crazy reaction video and now everybody hopping on the wave. Everybody is just rocking with it. It’s like a different feeling. It’s a different sound. Since last night and the reaction video, I think people know who, Black Catt is now. It’s been showing. Spotify is going crazy, Apple going crazy. All of these big labels are reaching out; different people are reaching out. The dots are definitely connecting. We put thought into it, put it out and just did our thing.

I see “No L’s” Challenges out there and with the sound and the hook of the song, you should really shop this thing to the NBA. They always seem to want to grab a joint like this heading into the playoffs.

Black Catt: Oh yeah! Definitely! If you peep the cover art, I was wearing the Kobe’s. I’m definitely pushing that NBA vibe. I’m going for my team, I don’t want to make nobody upset, so… Oh yeah, shout out to, Andre Drummond. I’m a little disappointed he had to leave us and go over to the Cavs our next door neighbors. That was kind of crazy. But he be watching the story and checking for the boy, so shout out to him.

What was it like working with Nick Price and from the sounds of this joint, I’m sure it won’t be the last time?

Black Catt: Nick goes from 100 to 1,000 and you just keep adding 0’s to it for real. My biggest thing with that song, I was just like, “Man, I’m not trying to flop.” That was my first time working with him. So, when he threw the beat on, I was just thinking, “I hope I don’t flop. I hope I don’t flop.” That’s how I went into the “No L’s” and the “Ayyyyy.” He sent me a beat today, I just finished it, done it up and sent it back to him. The chemistry just went crazy and he done worked with Wu Tang and a lot of other legends in New York. He’s solidified. So, being able to work with a “G” like him is dope all together.

I had no idea you were a boxing fan. That’s dope, man.

Black Catt: Oh yeah! Even when I workout, we incorporate boxing. T-Weezy, this artist I be working with box all the time. He will bring me to the gym and be like, “Yo, go crazy.” We’ll throw on some records we did from our projects and put in that work. I love boxing. I hated to see Deontay Wilder lose, but part 3 coming and he putting in that work.

If you could walk a fighter out to your new single, “No L’s,” which fighter would it be?

Black Catt: “Tank” all day. Gervonta Davis. “Tank” hit me up, dog. What’s good? I’m in the A. That would be crazy. We gotta put that together. Hit me up, “Tank,” for your next fight. Just DM me, you already know you on the Gram! Hit the boy up!

Keep the music coming, hopefully we see you escorting, Gervonta to the ring this summer. Is there anything else you want to throw in there?

Black Catt: Yo, everybody follow the boy on social media, Instagram blackcattsound, Twitter @blackcattsoundx and also now on TikTok blackcattsound. We got, “New York Minute” on the way. Me, T-Weezy and Mook got a project on the way called, “Black Bank.” Might throw something down with, DJ Whoo Kid. Summer going to be crazy. And then there is another record we just did that I think, YG would just go crazy on, it’s called, “Bummin.” It’s going to be a crazy summer, man.
