UK Experimental Rap Collective CiiMATiX Unveil Brand New Single ‘Fr33mnd’

The enigmatic multidisciplinary UK rap collective CiiMATiX have released their brand new single ‘Fr33mnd’, the first track from their forthcoming debut EP CiiMATiX Vol 1, which is set to be released in May. Produced by Loud Beats, the track will also be followed by their debut visual album Sound Mind later this autumn. Anyone who is a fan of Wretch 32, Octavian, Kojey Radical, or EarthGang will appreciate their skifulness on experimental and afro-futuristic sounds accompanied by conscious songwriting and lyricism.

CiiMATiX experience music not only as art, but also as a spiritual and scientific process, that can be observed through their involvement in performing arts, psychology, and performance coaching. The collective’s creative approach does not leave anything to chance and they aspire to discover untapped potential and elevate behaviour. Led by curation for each sound and the frequency in which it resonates, they identify themselves as modern day sound healers, which is perfectly said in their tagline ‘music for the sixth sense’.

In the core of their soundscape resides hip-hop, which is embellished by diverse genres starting from grime, UK garage and rock escalating to reggae, soul, world music and jazz. In addition to their eclectic sound, Afrofuturistic sensibilities are infused and result to CiiMATiX unique aesthetic and sound. The South London natives may present themselves as musicians first and foremost, but they carry titles, ranging from film makers, art and design creators to theatre producers and event curators.

Explaining the inspiration behind their new track ‘Fr33mnd’, CiiMATiX say, “Ultimately, this song is about challenging the status quo, and not being defined or controlled by labels and society’s preconceived notions. Creatively, the slant we took with this song is born out of our constant desire to create something relatable in its sound but unique in its approach. We wanted to create a fusion between current and conscious, and to deliver our message in a way that both educates and entertains”.
