Alternative Rock Band ‘Ink To Spill’ Acknowledges Autism Awareness In New Single “Chapter 12”

Every April we celebrate World Autism Month beginning with United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. Autism-friendly events and educational activities take place throughout the month to increase understanding and acceptance, while fostering worldwide support. Alternative rock band Ink To Spill joins the celebrations in order to raise awareness to and acknowledge that 1 in 59 people below the age of 21 are now on the Autism Spectrum. Their new hit, “Chapter 12” presents creative story-telling inspired by fictional literature about a young, autistic boy obsessed with the length and placement of pauses in rock songs. Making a modest donation to both NAAM and the Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation, Ink to Spill chooses to celebrate the beauty of differences.

The song starts off with band member C’Quil imagining himself on a flight from New Jersey to British Columbia in a seat next to the young boy as he shares his unique passion for song pauses. Lyrics like “Stuck on an airplane, all day to BC. What’s the perfect place? What’s the perfect length? He asked of me” remain consistent with Ink to Spill’s strength of creating strong imagery through their lyrics. Their music video takes a less traditional approach, explaining how “Chapter 12” came about, giving the audience a peek into the personalities and inner workings of Ink To Spill. The band’s choice to pair a conceptual track with a more literal visual lends itself well to the celebration of differences. Each band member discusses what they feel they bring to the band and how it contributes to the overall synergy of their creative process. Each member introduces a different talent, ultimately creating a beautiful accumulation of genuine passion for the music. Their narratives revolve around their love of melody and song structure, pairing quite creatively with the story of the autistic boy’s fascination with lengths and placements in rock songs.

The subtle sounds of “Chapter 12” provide a mellow lyrical delivery over innovative guitar riffs and upbeat drum patterns. The multi-dimensional track and video are assets to a larger initiative, building a better awareness of the signs, symptoms, and realities of autism. The National Autism Society’s #CelebrateDifferences focuses on providing information and resources for  communities to be more aware of autism, promote acceptance, and be more inclusive in everyday life. In Chapter 12, Ink To Spill stays consistent with their ability to present a poignant examination of our world through conceptual, lyrical tracks which consistently pair with a conversation larger than the band itself, something not many artist’s can say these days. Leaving no stone unturned, “Chapter 12” follows the release of recent hits: “Blooming In New Orleans”, “Robes On Fire” & “Raging Hormones”.
