British Nigerian Afropop Artist Adenikè Returns With ‘Tonight’

Coming on the back of her debut single ‘Ride’, which amassed over 200,000 plays online and led to her opening for Burna Boy on his ‘African Giant’ European tour, British Nigerian Afropop artist and musician Adenikè is ready to kickstart her summer takeover, with the brand new single ‘Tonight’, which is taken from her forthcoming debut EP, and produced by burgeoning Ivorian Nigerian musician and producer SHØLA, who has previously worked with BET Award winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, among others.

Led by her enthralling vocals, lush melodies, and relatable songwriting, over the infectious drum-heavy dancefloor filler Afrobeats musical backdrop provided by SHØLA, Adenikè gushes “about finding love at it’s finest. It feels like something that is just too good to be true, but yet long overdue, which is why everything’s so good and sweet, and there are no limits to how far you would be willing to go for that person”, as the exciting London afrobeats newcomer explains, when asked about the inspiration behind ‘Tonight’.

Speaking about how the song came about, Adenikè adds that, “my producer SHØLA put this instrumentation on, during one of our many frequent studio sessions, and I just went with the flow, and she was feeling the vibe as much as I was. I instantly got a love vibe from the track, and started writing the beginnings of what is now ‘Tonight’. We recorded the foundations of the track that same day, and built the record out from there. What I love about working with SHØLA is that she understands my sound”.
