Inside A&R and More… with Johnny Vieira from J.V.M and J.O.T.S Records

Just to give a quick refresher for those who may not know A&R is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists. Also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label or publishing company; every activity involving artists to the point of album release is generally considered under the purview, and responsibility, of A&R

Johnny Vieira of J. O.T.S Records and J.V.M is an independent A&R executive who is also an active Songwriter / Producer signed to B.M.G Music. In addition to that Johnny still spends a good portion of his time developing and Managing artists. Though he is credited with making huge stars like Vanessa Hudgens, he also is proud of Singer songwriters like Bre Kennedy who he signed to Kobalt Music. Bre has been doing great things in Nashville as a writer and will certainly be an artist to reckon with in 2020/2021. Johnny’s latest discovery is Kali Roxx whose music channels the lyrical and musical style of Amy Whiehouse, Lady Gaga, Alessia Cara with a bit of Christina Aguilera.

Johnny started his journey in Music at a very early age developing his chops in the San Francisco Bay Area. After college he moved to Los Angeles to start J.O.T.S Productions. It was then that he discovered Vanessa Hudgens in 2004 and launched her as an artist / actress using The High School Musical as a vehicle to make her the success that she still is today. Johnny was the executive producer along with Hollywood records on all Vanessa’s solo albums, which has since gone Platinum. Johnny continued to launch several other teen artists including Janelle Parrish (Pretty Little Liars) Cierra Ramirez and signed 3 of the 5 girls that make up 5th Harmony. He was instrumental in guiding these and other careers through the treacherous waters that is the entertainment business. He continued developing and producing other artists like Rachel Page who he got signed to Interscope records by Jimmy Iovine himself. Also to Mr Vieira’s credit is Carissa Rae who was signed to Republic Universal, Colby O’donis who was signed to Interscope records and several other artists/ bands including Bre Kennedy who he recently signed to Kobalt Music in Nashville.

Johnny Vieira is currently signed to BMG music and has a Joint Venture partnership to bring BMG artists, writers and other opportunities that he feels would be a good fit. Asked how he finds Talent… “Artists come to me a number of ways but it also depends if they are coming to the consulting side of my business to be developed or if they have a career already in the works and need us to manage them. The consulting clients usually find me through word of mouth or Social media. The established clients (for management) almost always are introduced to me through a trusted source within the entertainment industry.”

A man of many interests and creative juices Johnny Vieira is also a successful Tech developer who created Tribefluence, a mobile App that connects Advertisers / Brands to Social Media Influencers. At the time of this writing Johnny was closing a deal with a major Holdings company to acquire one of his Apps. Safe to say Tribefluence will revolutionize the Influencer world.
