Kemba Drops His Slick New Cut “Pisces”

Kemba has paid his dues on the New York rap scene. Following the release of his deeply personal project Gilda, the Bronx native returns with his uplifting new cut “Pisces” – finding light even in the darkest of moments.

Imbued with Kemba’s distinctive flow, “Pisces” rumbles with warped rhythms and thundering drum patterns. Born and raised in the Bronx, the rapper was brought up on the technical abilities of the artists around him. Immersing himself in the similes, metaphors and rhythmic arrangements of his mentors, the artist has single handedly shaped his adroit lyrical talent – infusing every release with a candid, heartfelt narrative.

“Music was the first thing that gave me real acceptance and identity” Kemba details. “‘Pisces’ is about the feeling of making it out of a difficult situation/upbringing (like mine in Hunts Point) and being stronger because of it.”

Following years of labels, media, and fans confining the versatile, multi-faceted artist into a box, the rapper decided to part ways with his original namesake YC The Cynic. Choosing a title that reflects his youth, strength and African heritage – Kemba was born.

Examining peace and chaos, Kemba is an artist who refuses to be confined by limiting genre restrictions. “Everything I say won’t be right. I’m not hiding my flaws or mistakes. Everything is in there.”
