Shaping the Culture of News Media: Meet Ravin Williams of JaGurl TV

Ravin Williams, who also goes by JaGurl Ravin is far from new to the media industry. Back in 2009, she launched JaGurl Radio on YouTube and Blog Talk Radio where she and a co-host would interview A list celebrities during that musical era including Soulja Boy, Nicki Minaj, Dj Unk and more. Today, Williams continues adding value to the media industry through her news publication, JaGurl TV.
Founded on July 14th, 2015, JaGurl TV is becoming the nation’s leading source for positive celebrity culture. “JaGurl TV is already creating a new wave for media and creating a positive impact on the world,” said Williams. “Our mission is to shine a light on the impactful endeavors that celebrities are doing to shape the culture in a positive way. JaGurl TV has interviewed a list of entertainers including T.I, Michael B. Jordan, DJ Khaled, Tyler Perry, Remy Ma, B. Simone, Jermaine Dupri, Jamie Foxx, Marsai Martin, Yara Shahidi, and the list goes on. Williams and her team conduct exclusive interviews, including on various red carpets and create unique stories that you won’t get from other sites. “We ask questions that the fans want to hear. We stay away from the drama, and gossip, and focus on asking questions that will create unique content for our audience. I mean let’s be honest, people are getting tired of reading messy news stories.”
After the interviews, her team utilizes social media platforms like Instagram to showcase their “Hot Tea” news stories to their followers. “We call our news ‘Hot Tea’ because it’s refreshing, vibrant and highlights unique news coverage.”
JaGurl TV recently launched its new Instagram Live series called #LetsTalk on April 15th, 2020. The series airs live once a week on JaGurl TV Instagram page interviewing female influencers. “So many people look at a platform like Instagram to get exposure. I think it’s important to hear the stories of female influencers who not only used Instagram to grow their brand but the blueprint behind how they did it”, says Williams. The series is also available to watch on JaGurl TV YouTube channel.
Williams is currently nominated for the Rising Star (Media) category for the 2020 Black Media Honors and is dedicated to taking JaGurl TV to the next level of success. “JaGurl TV is growing mass momentum.
