Western Australian Hip-Hop Artist MALi JO$E Shares New Single ‘This Could Be You’

Western Australian hip-hop artist MALi JO$E has released his first single for 2020, ‘This Could Be You’. The track combines the young artist’s charm with his colourful 90’s inspired style to discuss the physical and mental impact of a complicated relationship, MALi says, “sometimes the feeling of love and heartbreak can be so corny, you just gotta make a joke of it… It’s the only way to cope!”

‘This Could Be You’ comes alongside a charismatic music video drenched in DIY backdrops, daydreaming and dancing.

MALi JO$E’s music conveys a personal story whilst merging elements of contemporary Australian youth culture. Old school hip-hop influences handed down to him by his father have encouraged MALi JO$E to establish himself as an artist years beyond his time- releasing hip-hop tracks you’d expect from a veteran. 2019 saw MALi play Groovin The Moo, be selected as a finalist for triple J Unearthed High and receive a nomination for WAM’s Song of the Year.

With echoes of Frank Ocean, J. Cole and at-home contemporaries like Remi and Arno Faraji, MALi combines his colourful energy with an impeccably smooth flow, backed by vibrant production from JCAL (Tuka, Toyotomi, Your Girl Pho). When discussing his creative process, MALi explains; “I create hip-hop music that is truthful and me to the fullest. I love to navigate through different lanes of music, showing that my diversity within the hip-hop catalogue is my best asset”.

The effervescent and energetic vibrations of ‘This Could Be You’ set the bar high for what is to come for MALi JO$E in 2020 and beyond!
