Who is Tuesday Knight?

As you see yourself, who is Tuesday Knight?

He’s the everyman’s rapper. A humble dude from humble beginnings who’s trying to make something of himself without selling his soul for it. He strives for relatability and honesty. He only raps about what he’s experienced and his vision for how we can make the world a better place for everyone in it. For the young kings and queens of the world, he wants you to strive for excellence, whatever that means to you. Excellence comes from being true to yourself and good to the people around you.

What brought you to the entertainment industry and music specifically?

I have always had a love for music since I was a kid. My motivation is less about entertainment and more for the enjoyment of creating music. The industry is just a necessary evil to navigate to get the music out there.

What and/or who influenced the sound you bring today?

The art of storytelling influenced my sound. I was a huge fan of artists that told stories in their music. To me being a good storyteller was the best thing an artist could be. Growing up who I felt did this the best was Nas. Every Nas song I could picture in my head and put myself in his shoes. He was super creative at that, like the rewind song when he told the whole story backwards. Stuff like that really made me fall in love with hip hop.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

Initially, I never saw myself being a super successful artist and that really wasn’t the early goal. I just wanted to have fun and make music and put it out. I’d say after releasing my first EP The Rehearsal – and the feedback I received – it really gave me motivation and made me feel I could do this for real.

What was the biggest obstacle in getting to your current career phase?

To be honest the biggest obstacle for me was just building the confidence to put my life and thoughts into song. I used to feel people didn’t care for what I had to say. So getting comfortable and confident in myself was my biggest obstacle.

What do you want people to get from your music?

I want people to be motivated to be themselves and live their truths. In an era where everybody is constantly comparing themselves to others and putting on fronts for social media I want people to find that being you is more than enough.

Tell us about your current project?

My current project that’s out is titled “FYS”. The premise for FYS is being yourself and being comfortable with your flaws and your talents. Accompanied with the project was a video series titles “Front Yard Series” also “FYS” which further drove that point home aiming to show you can create content for little to no money and it be dope. A lot of people get discouraged because they don’t have funds to make super high quality content. I was aiming to show you can be yourself and make something unique and have people gravitate to it. One of those videos actually got me BET Jams artist of the week.

What do you feel has been your greatest life achievement so far?

My greatest life achievement has to be the birth of my daughter. Being a good father and good  role model to her is my number 1 priority.

If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

At this very second I would choose Frank Ocean. I always feel the RnB and Rap Collabs just mix so beautifully and Frank Ocean has RnB on lock. He’s super creative and unique and I think our styles would mesh well.

If you had to pick one song of yours, that really explains YOU, what would it be?

I’d say “Found My Calling” off of “FYS.” It demonstrates the kind of transparency I like to write with and gives a few details into my life. I explain how my mom always wanted a girl so me being the youngest boy had to tap into that side and fulfill some of that role for her. I also detail how I was always in a different activity and how the fueled the creative side of me.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!”
moment…

I’d say recently after moving to Atlanta and asking for a bacon egg and cheese on a roll, you know classic NY breakfast, they had no idea what a roll was. They just don’t have hard rolls. Asked for a buttered roll and they said “Just butter… on a roll, that would be weird.”
