Christee Palace Shares New Electro-Pop Single “DANGER”

Christee Palace is a pop singer/songwriter hailing from a large family of musicians in her hometown of Windsor, Ontario. Christee got her start achieving local and Canada wide success with her first EP “Alive Today” and two follow up singles that both charted in Canada’s Most Active Indies chart in their first few weeks on radio. This drove her to pursue music on a larger scale, relocating to Toronto, Ontario to record her newest EP with a vibrant new team of writers and producers.

Christee’s new single, “DANGER,”is about getting over someone that you know will end up hurting you. It’s an electro-pop track that mirrors the feeling of fear when jumping into something unknown. However, there is also the sense of strength in overcoming something that had the potential to consume you.

Listen to ‘Danger’ now and read our in-depth interview with Christee below!

Christee Palace · Danger

What makes ‘Danger’ different from your past work?

I’m not sure I would say it is “different”, but more so that I feel there is a slight artistic progression between each EP I put out. The more I write and release songs, the more I feel I am getting to the root of who I am and what I want to say. Danger is the first of many new songs to come, and it’s one song that I definitely didn’t hold back how I was feeling in describing a certain relationship I was in.

Can you describe the concept behind the track?

Danger, for me, is a song about conscious, self-defiance— understanding full well what you are doing, knowing that it has the potential to have serious emotional consequences. In this specific situation, I knew what the end result was going to be, but felt like I was persuaded into staying in that position.

How would you describe your artistic evolution throughout your career?

As I mentioned earlier, I do feel like there is an artistic progression (or evolution) between each creative work I put out. I think as I get older and continue to put out music, I’m developing a bolder attitude. I’m not focused too much on what people want to hear, but rather what I want them to hear. I want people to understand me and what has gone on in my life to get me where I am. I’ve always written pop music, but I come from rock influences as well. For these next batch of songs, I think I have found a perfect balance of using rock influences with a modern pop production.

What’s been the biggest change in your life over the past year?

I actually used to live in Windsor, Ontario, and moved to Toronto about a year and a half ago. I think that’s always going to be something I have to adjust to— being away from my family, friends, and all the places that my stories and songwriting influences began. I’ve started a new life in a new city, figuring out where I fit and how I see the world through a different set of eyes now. It’s exhilarating.

What song by another artist do you wish you had written?

Oh my goodness… there’s SOO many!! I have about 200 favourite songs that I love and wish I had written. The first one that came to mind when you asked me this though is “Down Forever” by Lights. Maybe I’ll provide you with the other 199 songs some other time…. ha!

And finally, where can readers keep up with what you are doing?

I am pretty active on all my social media accounts! People can keep up with me on Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok (if you want to watch me embarrass myself). Check out my website, and that’ll bring you to all my accounts (www.christeepalace.com) or @christeepalace for all socials. 🙂
