k.s. Rhoads Creates A Hauntingly Peaceful Dreamspace With New Single “Invisible Light”

Nashville-based songwriter, composer, and producer k.s. Rhoads’ flair for instrumentation radiates like a break in the clouds on his new single, “Invisible Light.” Rhoads’ comforting vocals backed by abounding strings and intimate keys create a majestic soundscape offering a moment of calm in these chaotic times.

“This is one of those songs you think you’re writing about someone else and end up wondering if you wrote it about yourself. I wanted this song to be compulsively easy to listen to – a driving song,” says Rhoads.

“Invisible Light” is the second track from his forthcoming album, When You Close Your Eyes, Do You See a White Jesus? that will be released this September. The first song and video from the record, Chess, ruminates on the impasse of truth and politics in our modern era, and Rhoads masterfully weaves that message into a hypnotic, singular coalescence of orchestra, percussion, vintage keys, and layered vocals. “Like the lyrics, the music video can also be tied to the programming of societal norms that we all experience,” wrote American Songwriter.

In addition to his solo work, Rhoads has written, produced, and played for an array of artists including Miranda Lambert, Lisa Loeb, Kris Allen, Kacey Musgraves, and Natalie Hemby of The Highwomen. As a composer, he has written orchestral music for the Nashville Symphony and the Nashville Ballet, scored the animated series Paranormal Action Squad, and arranged strings for numerous pop/country/Americana artists including Little Big Town and Ashley Monroe. He serves as bandleader for the Nashville artist/songwriter collective Ten Out Of Tenn and is considered one of the pioneers of Nashville’s burgeoning non-country music scene. Rhoads’ songs have been featured in over 100 television shows, movie trailers, and commercials, including Apple, Coca-Cola, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Netflix’s The Little Prince, and ABC’s Nashville.
