Meet Rising Star Crooner Felixx

Felixx is an emerging crooner taking over the industry right now with his new single “My Baby”. “My Baby” is the debut single off Felixx’s upcoming EP “QuaRNB.” This much-anticipated project is sure to reveal that Felixx is R&B’s newest star who’s talent and star power are here to stay. Because of this bizarre pandemic and the subsequent quarantine restrictions, audiences around the globe have found themselves listening to R&B music like never before and Felixx has caught the ears of tens of thousands of fans of the genre.

The Hype Magazine got Felixx to weigh in on a few things!

Tell us about Felixx from the outside looking in!

Outside looking in, I feel like people think that I (myself & my team) have it all figured out because we have definitely been blessed over the past few years, but in reality, we are just figuring it out day by day. One step at a time. We have learned to make a mistake, learn from it, and keep pushing!

What brought you to music?

I really feel like music found me. Yeah, I grew up singing in church and knew that I had a talent for it but you know…. dreams. But when things started happening and I was able to see my own growth, I realized that music is the one thing that I can’t live without!

Tell us about your upcoming project and what it means for you.

My new EP QUARnB is definitely one that I’m really excited about. All the songs have meaning and a real story behind their creation. They remind me of the major moments in my life that have not only changed me as a creative but as a man… a person. This project to me represents growth.

What’s the most special thing about this project for you?

The most special thing about the project is that all the songs were created during major points in my life over the last few years, especially during this quarantine.

Congratulations on the hit “Somebody” has it sunk in yet how much people love your work?

Wow, now that you ask… I haven’t actually taken the time out to really take it all in. My team and I are always on go and moving on to the next thing; we definitely forget to sometimes live in the moment of what we have accomplished. It’s a blessing and a curse tho. It’s great to never be satisfied or caught up in your own hype BUT it is good to take a moment and pat yourself on the back every now and then.

Who came up with the underwater concept for the “Somebody” video and how long did it take to finish?

Wild enough my manager, Anthony Kalel, actually came up with the idea. I told him that I didn’t want the music and the visuals to be so serious and overdone, I just wanted to have a good time with the songs and make sure that it translated in the visuals as well.

What was the most fun about creating the song and visual?

The best thing about creating a visual for me is that I “see” music before I hear it. It’s like I can see the emotion in my head before I am able to hear or actually feel it. It’s weird I know, but it works for me.

What’s the most important thing we should know about Felixx?

I think the most important thing people should know about me is that I’m just human like everyone else. I think people forget that their favorite artists go to sleep, wake up, brush their teeth and put their shoes on one at a time like everybody else lol. But with that being said, the human part of me is what I protect the most because, at the end of the day, this is all about the songs. I do this for the music and all of my music is inspired by my human experiences.

What’s been your craziest experience career-wise thus far?

Honestly, the craziest thing for me was being on FOX’s “The Four!” It was crazy because I had spent so many years looking for an opportunity to get in front of an industry exec like Diddy, someone I looked up to (like a mentor in my head). I also had the chance to jump on stage at the REVOLT Music Conference and perform, then I was able to open up for Puff & The Family at ESSENCE, to being on the show!

Tell us about your passions outside of music!

I spend a lot of time helping friends and others in my network bring some of their creative projects to life! I’ve definitely learned that when you help others and put that good energy out it comes back around tenfold! I also like to spend time kickin’ it with friends and just enjoying life.

What’s on the slate for 2020 now that we can move around a little bit?

I’m just ready to get back on the road to reach out and touch my supporters. Get back on the stage and do what I really love, perform!
